Andrew Yarahmadi

Founder of Goinenglish, GoinLabs and GoinVideo. Business English lecturer at the International School of Management (ISM) and the University of Hohenheim, where he also teaches HR management.

Andrew is, first of all, a learner. He believes the most useful thing a trainer can teach is not a list of phrases but a way of thinking: asking the second question, checking the assumption behind an argument and saying clearly what you mean. That is why Goinenglish lessons are built around real cases, debates and decisions rather than textbooks.

He still teaches around fifteen groups every week himself, so every Goinenglish product, from the free worksheets to iConnect & iGoinLearn, is tested in real lessons before it reaches a client. Alongside teaching he consults companies on communication, invests in young businesses and writes the case studies in our Insights section.

His path into teaching was not a straight line. He studied business in New York, where he was on the university debate team, and then worked in finance, in sales, M&A and credit risk analysis. That taught him how companies actually make decisions. Since 2011 he has trained people in Stuttgart, at Bosch, the Robert Bosch Stiftung, the University of Hohenheim, DHBW Stuttgart and ISM, and worked as a communication consultant for companies such as LBBW, Mercedes-AMG, MAHLE and Thomas Sabo.

Away from the classroom, he writes and plays music with his band The Forgotten Jest. Songwriting and good communication have a lot in common: say less, mean more.
